Branding agency Turquoise has been appointed to develop the brand identity for the UK Design Skills Alliance.
The Design Skills Alliance is the body formed as a collaboration between the Design Council and Creative & Cultural Skills to secure funding for, and oversee delivery of a wide range of initiatives to augment current design skills, education and professional development, set out in the Alliance's recently-published Design Blueprint.
Turquoise will be working closely with the Design Council and Creative and Cultural Skills to develop an effective and clear identity for the UK Design Skills Alliance which will:
- Establish and launch the UK Design Skills Alliance as the national hub of knowledge and support for professional design skills.
- Be used in funding discussions with from government departments such as DIUS, DCMS, DCSF and other organisations such HEFCE, Research Council, HEA and education trusts.
- Be used to engage the design sector, building on existing collaborations and partnerships and identifying fund raising opportunities from the industry.
- Help drive the future thinking of the professional practice of design and enable tangible delivery of improved design education and design effectiveness.
Lesley Morris, Director of the UK Design Skills Alliance, said "Appointing Turquoise to articulate an identity for the Design Skills Alliance is an important step forward for design skills, education and professional development in the UK. This work will form the foundations on which the delivery of the Design Blueprint will depend."
"We chose to work with Turquoise because of their excellent experience in developing well thought out brand strategies and successful, contemporary and impactful brand identities. Turquoise have also demonstrated a deep commitment to and enthusiasm for the UK Design Skills Alliance, and we look forward to working in close partnership with them over the coming months."
It is hoped that some aspects of the UK Design Skills Alliance brand will be unveiled during the London Design Festival in September.
