San Francisco Graphic Design 2009 will showcase thirteen San Francisco designers who represent the rich and varied graphic design community of the Bay Area and who have influenced design communities both locally and nationally.
Curated by Michael Osborne, the exhibit seeks to present the viewer with a rich array of beautiful, familiar, cross-disciplinary work; to exhibit a group of diverse projects which entertain and educate the museum visitor through the most innovative website, exhibit, print, and packaging design produced in San Francisco; and to include women and men designers with varying degrees of experience and longevity.
Designers included are Philippe Becker Philippe Becker Design, Jennifer Bostic Paper Plane Studio, Adam Brodsley and Eric Heiman Volume Inc., Josh Chen Chen Design Associates, Tom Ingalls Ingalls Design, Jennifer Jerde Elixir Design, Mitchell Mauk Mitchell Mauk Design, Sara Schneider Chronicle Books, Michael Schwab Michael Schwab Studio, Christopher Simmons MINE, Barbara Vick Barbara Vick Design, Cinthia Wen NOON and Curator: Michael Osborne, Michael Osborne Design.
There has been a rich history of work produced in San Francisco over the last eighty years by letterpress printers, and "graphic designers" before the term even existed.
The exhibit will also include an historical San Francisco design history section.
