ONE Chair Wins Again

ONE Chair Wins Again

Yet another accolade has been presented to the ONE chair designed by Anders Nørgaard for BoConcept. In June 2008 the ONE chair gained international acclaim when it was awarded the prestigious red dot design award. Beating out stiff competition from 3,203 products from 51 different countries the ONE chair was selected based on criteria such as degree of innovation, functionality, ergonomics, longevity, ecological compatibility and clarity of function.

And now the sleek design of the chair has been recognized once again and honored with a GOOD DESIGN award, the international industrial and graphic design award program. The GOOD DESIGN award is presented annually by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and Metropolitan Arts Press Ltd. and is the world's most prestigious global award for new product design and graphics. Close to 2,000 products from over 48 nations were submitted and more than 500 products from 34 nations were selected worthy of the GOOD DESIGN award for design distinction. Since 1950 the GOOD DESIGN Award has been given to the most innovative and cutting-edge industrial products and graphic designs produced around the world. The awarded products and graphics are accessioned into the Museum's Permanent Design Collection.

Since its introduction, the ONE chair has been a popular design item throughout the BoConcept retail chain, which consists of over 380 stores worldwide. 'One' was originally given its name, as it was noted that the legs and seat visually appear to be one unified piece. It distinguishes itself in that respect from other regular shell chairs whose four legs are constructed to be mounted directly into the shell of the seat. The One chair's composition has paved the way for an elegant design that truly lightens the overall appearance.

Aside from its inspired legs, beautiful curves and minimalist design, ONE is also a very comfortable seat. 'A lot of time and effort has been put into making a very light, supple chair that ergonomically regulates itself according to your body', explains designer Anders Nørgaard. 'Add to this, the practicality of being able to stack up to 10 chairs on top of each other'.

The One chair is available in white lacquer in all BoConcept Brand Stores. From spring 2009 it will also be available in red and black.
