Yamazaki Mazak Corporation has announced a partnership with the prestigious Ken Okuyama Design, founded by one of the world's leading industrial design gurus Kiyoyuki Okuyama.
Mr. Okuyama's design collaboration with Yamazaki Mazak will further enhance the design, ergonomics and ease of operation of Mazak's machine tools.
By combining these attributes with the high accuracy and quality of its products and the before- and after-sales support the company is famous for, Mazak intends to increase the differentiation between its machine tools and those of its competitors.
As the design director at Pininfarina, Mr. Okuyama was involved in the design of world famous cars such as the Ferrari Enzo, Ferrari Scaglietti and the Maserati Quattroporte, as well as motorcycles for Ducati and various aircraft, ships and furniture.
His most recent creation is the stunning K.O. 7 sports car which formed part of Yamazaki Mazak's display at the recent Jimtof exhibition in Tokyo.
Components for the car, produced on Mazak multi-tasking machines were also on display.
One door frame component, which was previously made of three parts, is now a single part that is machined by a Mazak multi-tasking machine tool in a single set-up.
These parts clearly demonstrate the benefits of Mazak's Done-in-One processing technique.
