The Istituto Europeo di Design of Barcelona has presented in its future headquarter, the former Macson factory, the 5th edition of its fashion show that this year carries for name "Hyperbodies, Cuerpos Emergentes".
The 37 students of the last academic year of fashion design of the IED Barcelona have created a total of 106 styles, which have for inspiration the human body and are born from an intense investigation and experimentation work.
The designers Jose Castro, Josep Abril, Txell Miras, and Joan Salvado have directed the thesis projects, transmitting its know-how and passion for the profession to these future promises of the fashion.
The collection "Hyperbodies, Cuerpos Emergentes" is a reflexion on the new codes and the new interpretations of the human condition in its social and relational context.
The young designers had to travel insight their body and observe attentively the relation of the body with the past, the present and the future to knock down any pre-established stereotype.
In the collections you can appreciate this line of experimental work, where the body display different formats and applications that push to a debate on the human contradiction: the altered body, imperfect, artificial, prohibited, crazy, the subtle body, the spiritual and material body,... a canvas that is transformed continuously.
The silhouettes are represented with angular, squared, spherical forms, and in some cases with woven that adapt to the body as a second skin, and in others using techniques like origami or paper cutting.
The body has inspired the designs at the same time as the scenery of the show, with the performance of a group of dance-contact. Two couples of dancers have improvised in the runway a choreography that has as prominence the corporal contact and the discovery of the body.
In conclusion, "Hyperbodies, Cuerpos Emergentes", is a social journey through the splendor, the exaggeration, the imperfection, the impurity, the temporality, the misery, and the weakness of the body as sign of life.
