NewDealDesign Recognized with Four International Design Excellence Awards

NewDealDesign, the San Francisco creative agency providing strategic industrial design, interaction design and brand identity services to leading companies, today announced it received four 2009 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA). NewDeal received the Gold award for its design of the Better Place Charge Spot; two Silver awards for the Dell Studio Hybrid Desktop PC in the computer equipment and ecodesign categories; and a bronze for the Game Ready GR2. In addition, five of the agency's designs were selected as finalists in the competition.

The annual IDEA competition is a celebration of the year's most innovative and exciting product and product concept designs and one of the world's most prestigious and recognizable design competitions. This year's award competition marks a significant achievement for NewDeal which distinguishes its profile within the industrial design community, as the agency received the second highest number of awards among winning design firms.

This year's IDEA winners exhibit a focus on sustainability and functionality, and two of NewDeal's award winning designs reflect this trend including the Dell Studio Hybrid Desktop PC and the Better Place Charge Spot. Joyce Bromberg, director, research, Steelcase Inc. WorkSpace Futures, and juror for this year's IDEA competition said: "The Better Place Charge Spot was a clean, simple and good looking solution to what I hope will be the beginning of a long line of earth-friendly charging solutions."

Stephen Melamed, IDSA, principal, Tres Design Group, and juror for this year's IDEA competition added: "This product/system will continue to move transportation consumers in the right direction. Ecological, and an appropriate minimalist design to work within a variety of public environments."

"I am honored that NewDealDesign has received this recognition from the IDSA," said Gadi Amit, founder and principal designer, NewDealDesign. "This year's competition validates NewDeal's real-world approach to design excellence, which is about enhancing our client's strategy with insightful creativity and a product-focused approach. We have a unique mixture of talent, philosophy and knowledge to create lasting, meaningful products and brands."

Out of 1631 competition entries only 31 were awarded the coveted Gold award, while 47 received Silver awards and 72 won Bronze awards, while 349 finalists were named in addition to the winners.
