Pierre Yves Panis Joins DMI's Advisory Council

DMI (Design Management Institute) announced that Pierre Yves Panis joined the DMI European Advisory Council.

A passionate design management advocate and long-time DMI member and conference attendee, Panis joins other international design leaders to advise and council on DMI programs and activities.

As Director of Design and Foresight of Legrand, Panis is in charge of all strategic and operational design initiatives for the Legrand product design department.

He leads ID teams in France, US, and China.

Legrand is a leader in electrical systems, with subsidiaries in more than 60 countries and sales in close to 180 countries.

Prior to joining Legrand in 2003, Pierre-Yves was Principal Designer at Moen.

Before taking on corporate jobs at Moen in the US and Legrand in France, Panis spent eight years in Southern Africa where he created and managed Design Co Operation (DCO), a non-profit design structure aimed at improving urban informal sector production in Zimbabwe.

DCO's activities were centered on a commitment to "design for development;" using an industrial design approach to conceive of and develop products specifically for small-scale, low-tech production environments.

He is a graduate of Les Ateliers (the French National School of Industrial Design) in Paris.

The DMI Advisory Council serves as a bridge between DMI and its constituents in the community and to complement and strengthen the organization's functions.
