The British design studio &made recently completed the interior of Bou Tea; a contemporary, boutique tea shop situated in Central London. &made have worked in collaboration with Roma Levin, who designed and produced the branding and visual identity of Bou Tea.
Bou Tea is situated in the Opera Quarter, Covent Gardenʼs historic food and cultural centre and boasts over 60 teas of the highest grades. The shop offers a refreshing new experience of the modern teashop with an extensive care to detail and tradition.
To promote the extensive range of tea available at Bou Tea, the interior and branding focus on presenting the raw material of the product at the forefront the space. The interior features bespoke furniture designed by &made which reflect the organic and natural elements of the visual identity. Fitted shelving across the facia of the teashop showcases the myriad of textures and properties of the different teas to passers by. A linear shelving system defines the boundaries of the white interior and archives the numerous teas and products that are available to purchase.
"We wanted to emphasise the boutique quality of an independent tea shop, one that is more than a regular cafe", explained David Cameron of &made. "The interior incorporates the character and organic aesthetics of the Bou Tea branding designed by Roma and translates them into a functional modern space. With a locally sourced solid Cedar bar top, walnut shelving and oak flooring, we the utilised raw material to create a simple yet playful environment as a backdrop to the bespoke furniture".
The concept behind Bou Tea branding centres around organic, hand drawn shapes; Roma said "it was inspired by the feel a summery tea party, under the shade of a tree".
