Rhode Island School of Design, in partnership with the American Craft Council, will host "Artonomics: New Tools for Artists and Designers", an open symposium exploring opportunities emerging from new forms of communication, presentation, marketing and distribution. The symposium will feature RISD President John Maeda and entrepreneur Maria Thomas as keynote speakers, and panels of industry leaders will discuss new and emerging professional practice opportunities for artists and designers.
"It is important for students to understand the marketplace and range of opportunities available," said Rosanne Somerson professor, The Department of Furniture Design. "RISD is pleased to host a symposium that allows students, and a community of artists and designers, to engage in a dialogue with leaders who are at the forefront of the changing marketplace."
