Production company Mothership announced that director Aladino Debert has joined its roster. Mothership operates as a sister company to Digital Domain. As such, Debert will also wear the hat of creative director with Digital Domain's commercial division, leveraging his many years' experience as a CG and VFX supervisor.
"Aladino is a multifaceted creative talent who has built a portfolio of work that demonstrates an ability to be as adept and nimble behind a workstation as behind a camera," said Mothership President Ed Ulbrich.
"He's exactly the kind of artist we're looking for to build the Mothership roster - a conceptual director with a great talent for using all of the storytelling tools available to him."
Aladino Debert returns to the Digital Domain fold, having worked for the company on feature films including "The Time Machine," "Star Trek: Nemesis" and "Adaptation" in the early 00's. He joins Mothership most recently from Radium, where as a creative director, he worked on campaigns and spots for Target, Pepsi, BMW, Honda, Coca-Cola, Renault, Bridgestone, Dolby and Boeing to name a few. And while he has directed a number of campaigns for top brands, it was a spec spot for Audi that caught the attention of the advertising, motion graphics and VFX industries. Ad agencies and production companies took note too, recognizing his impressive technical chops and ability to art direct and create beautiful high-end visuals.
Debert has also held CG and animation supervisor roles at a number of creative studios on both coasts. He is a native of Argentina, where he received a degree in Architecture from Buenos Aires University. Debert also holds a Computer Graphics Degree from New York City's Pratt Institute.
"I'm very excited to join Mothership and the impressive global roster of talent that Ed and Executive Producer Tanya Cohen have curated," said Debert.
"They've built a truly breakthrough business model that creatively nurtures filmmakers and artists while providing them with the infrastructure and tools of one the industry's top visual effects companies, Digital Domain.
There's no better place for me to be right now."
Debert is currently engaged on his first Mothership project as a creative director/VFX supervisor on an upcoming campaign being directed by Mothership's David Rosenbaum and Dael Oates. Mothership represents Debert as a director exclusively in North America and Europe.
