After 13 years in charge of REX - one of the biggest and most recognised design agencies in Brazil - the designers Gustavo Piqueira and Marco Aurelio Kato announced that they are going separate ways and REX Design will become two different agencies: Casa Rex and Kong Rex, respectively commanded by Gustavo and Kato.
According to both, the main reasons for this decision were their desires to follow specific directions along with their potential for business expansion - with non-competition agreements signed between each one's clients.
"It was a polite, friendly and mutual agreement," said Kato.
"Proof of that is that the two new agencies, although completely separated from each another, still carry the REX surname and Kato and I continue running REX Livros (REX Books), our Publishing House, together" added Gustavo.
Now, Gustavo Piqueira constitutes Casa Rex together with his three partners Ingrid Lafalce, Luiz Sanches and Samia Jacintho, while Marco Aurelio Kato forms Kong Rex with Thiago Belas.
