Carbon Hires Global Design Executive Tom White

Leading full-service consultancy Carbon Design Group announced the appointment of Tom White as Vice President.

"We are extremely pleased Tom White has joined Carbon. His experience, expertise and abilities in strategy, marketing, and development will fuel our growth domestically and abroad," said Craig Chamberlain, President of Carbon Design Group. "As both a designer and a businessman, Tom really connects with our team and our clients," added Dan Blase, Carbon's Director of Engineering. "He's the perfect addition to help build on Carbon's 15-year history of delighting clients and creating meaningful products." White studied at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California and earned his Bachelor's in Industrial Design from California State University, Northridge. He has won more than 15 awards for design and creativity, including the IDSA Merit Award.

White began his career at Lockheed where he managed the proposal development and promotion effort for the $70 billion F-22 fighter jet competition. When Lockheed won this highly-sought-after program, he became responsible for promotion of the full range of Lockheed products and programs globally. His passion for design's power to drive business led him to pursue and earn his MBA from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.

In 1990, White founded creative marketing agency 3DI, to create the success for global Fortune 500 brands for which he had been known at Lockheed. The "3DI Touch," an integration of design and marketing strategy, became popular among Fortune 500 clients. Living and working in the US and Europe, White created iconic product programs for Motorola, Philips, Volvo, Lockheed, Boeing, and others. His branded programs created overwhelming success for design firms and clients alike. In 2000, he was recruited by Dutch design firm EDG to move to Europe and grow the business.

Following the successful sale of the Dutch firm, White returned to Los Angeles. He joined Stuart Karten Design in 2006 as Director, Marketing and Business Development. There he helped attract A-list clients, build a dedicated research group, and achieve record sales volumes. As Executive Vice President at RKS Design from 2007 to 2010, White's strategic and developmental programs led to unprecedented growth and an expanded client roster of top-tier clients and partnerships.

"I couldn't be more excited to be part of Carbon," said White. "With the full-breadth of research, strategy, design, and engineering service offerings, Carbon not only has the insight and vision required to make meaningful connections with consumers and deliver measurable results for clients, Carbon has the design and engineering teams with the expertise to bring that vision to life." "It's great to have Tom on board," said Willy Stiggelbout, Carbon's founder and principal. "He brings a rich understanding of not only Carbon's challenges but, more importantly, those our clients face. We are excited to add Tom to the Carbon team and for his help as we enter a new era."
