On March 2nd, Keith Arem, Director of the record-breaking Call of Duty: Black Ops game and Creative Director / President of PCB Productions, will be presenting "Getting the Best Out of Your Talent: Achieving Quality Performances in Games" at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2011.
In his session, Arem will discuss techniques and production philosophies to achieve quality performances from actors and celebrities, and provide an inside look into voiceover and performance capture from a performance perspective. Attendees will learn useful and realistic approaches to negotiating the delicate balance between talent, writers, directors and engineers, as well as strategies for talent and performance direction, recording techniques, script organization and management, session planning, and casting.
Arem's appearance at GDC follows the hugely successful, Fall 2010 release of Call of Duty: Black Ops, the highest selling game in history, where he directed the all-star cast, including celebrities Ed Harris, Sam Worthington, and Gary Oldman. He and the Infinity Ward team recently won a TEC Award for Interactive Entertainment Sound Production for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which Arem directed last year.
Arem is currently in pre-production on his feature-directing debut, the action thriller "Frost Road." In addition, his creator-owned graphic novel properties, the highly successful Ascend, Infex, and Dead Speed, are all in development for feature films and multimedia experiences.
