Kartell's flagship store in Soho will be in full bloom this spring with the installation of "Kartell's Magic Garden," a special presentation to take place during the 23rd annual International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF). From May 14 to 17, Kartell Soho will be transformed into an enchanted garden setting.
"Kartell's Magic Garden" will set the stage for the North American debut of the new Magic Hole collection, a series of outdoor furnishings created for Kartell by Philippe Starck with Eugeni Quitllet. Created using a rotational molding technique, the Magic Hole two-seat sofa and armchair fuse function and style in a clean, light silhouette that is suitable for use in the garden, on the terrace, roof deck, poolside or for public places. The collection takes its name from the flared pocket in the arms, which is available in tone-on-tone white, grey or black, or in contrasting fluorescent orange or green.
"Kartell's Magic Garden" will take over the front half of the showroom, while the heart of the Kartell store will also evoke nature with an installation of the newly available Bloom by Ferruccio Laviani. Bloom is a pendant lighting fixture clad in a cascade of sparkling polycarbonate flowers that cause light to refract on their faceted surfaces and multiply in a thousand reflections.
Kartell will also display their broad range of existing pieces for outdoor or indoor use, including classics such as the iconic Bubble Club sofa and a wide range of polycarbonate chairs, like Papyrus or Frilly, and the much-buzzed-about new Masters chair by Philippe Starck with Eugeni Quitllet, just now available for purchase in the US.
"Kartell's Magic Garden" is designed to capture the essence of Kartell and its sophisticated yet playful approach. The Kartell New York flagship is located at 39 Greene Street in Soho. "Kartell's Magic Garden" and the flagship store will be open to the public during ICFF from 11am to 7pm daily.
