Method has partnered with industrial design firm, Whipsaw, to relaunch their website and logo. Whipsaw President, Dan Harden, says that the working relationship between Whipsaw and Method was "a magical pairing between two design firms that produced an innovative and relevant website that reflects the kind of company that Whipsaw is."
It is not often that Whipsaw is the client with another design firm, but Whipsaw and Method complemented each other to create an inspiring and effective final product. Beyond sharing a common language, Whipsaw and Method had a working dynamic that was extremely collaborative, transparent, and engaged.
"We were honestly a little intimidated to begin working for another design agency, especially one that we so highly respected," said Katie Beneicke, Method's Project Manager. "We quickly found them to be great clients, and the level of trust we formed helped us to maintain transparency, and ultimately deliver the best end product."
The refreshed Whipsaw logo is concise and clear, yet bold and iconic. It symbolizes Whipsaw's strength and experience, with a nod to the original identity, which was edgy and angular. The original logo personified the passion and ambition of a young company with aggressive goals, but over the last decade Whipsaw has evolved into an established company and the masthead needed to reflect that. Robert Murdock, Principal of Design at Method, stated: "We wanted the core of the logo to represent the timeless and sophisticated work that Whipsaw produces."
Similar to the logo, Whipsaw.com is completely changed to intuitively showcase their large portfolio of interesting projects, strong client relationships, and many accolades.
Whipsaw.com is an example of how design can allow content to shine, giving Whipsaw's wide range of successes center stage. It communicates Whipsaw's values and culture while highlighting over a decade of achievement. Whipsaw.com also calls attention to unique company attributes with a section on business results and personal testimonials from CEOs. Additional forward-thinking and modern features include faceted project browsing, instant cross referencing, PDF downloads of case studies, custom views, and search. The site also gives Whipsaw a louder voice, connecting them to social networks and building out a blog for more open and regular communications. The site is organized, informative, and very intuitive to navigate.
"The relationship formed between Whipsaw and Method was something of a magical pairing between two design firms that produced an innovative and relevant website that reflects the kind of company that Whipsaw is. It clearly communicates our business advantage, highlights our work, and is intuitive for our customers," said Dan Harden, President at Whipsaw.
