When we discuss the design for "aging-in-place" today, it is no longer just about our clients. How do we want to live?
The thoughtful design of residential environments for seniors requires a multidisciplinary, research-based, culturally and socially-informed approach in order to "get it right:" to challenge the stigmas of aging, and resistance to change and isolation; to examine new models for small-scale communal living; to identify code and funding changes to accommodate aging-in-place; and new design techniques and technologies for the home.
Information will be directly relevant to the health, safety, and welfare of seniors as they age-in-place in purpose-built environments.
