Richmond International has been appointed to develop the interior design for Langham Hospitality Group's prestigious new project, The Langham, Chicago, which is due to open in 2013.
The London-based design agency was the perfect choice for the new Chicago hotel, having previously worked with The Langham, London, Europe's original Grand Hotel. Richmond International recently completed The Langham, London's new Chuan Spa, which is based on the principles of traditional Chinese Medicine, as well as the hotel's opulent new Regent Suite.
The Langham, Chicago will be located in the iconic Mies van der Rohe building, a declared Chicago Landmark which was the renowned architect's last project, and is affectionately known by Chicago's citizens as the IBM Building. The hotel will occupy the first 13 floors of the building and will house 320 guest rooms. Offering views over the Chicago Lake and River, the rooms will be amongst the largest in the city.
Trademark features include The Palm Court (which in Chicago may be called Tea Salon, tbc), which in London is renowned for being the birth place of Afternoon Tea, Chuan Spa, Infinity Suite, and Regent Suite. Originally opened in 1971, the Mies van der Rohe building will provide a more contemporary setting for The Langham brand, which is reflected in its design and the use of art work by internationally renowned artists.
