Organized by Design Museum and PUMA.Creative, Interpretations of Africa: Football, Art and Design is an exhibition celebrating PUMA's new football kit designs for the ten PUMA partnered African National football teams.
PUMA has commissioned a selection of Africa's leading artists to create new artwork which has become the basis for the football kits design. The exhibition explores the response of the ten artists to a demanding brief, to design a new football kit whilst celebrating Africa's unique visual identity and culture.
Interpretations of Africa: Football, Art and Design charts the artist's journey, inspiration, and design process, demonstrating how Africa's culture and history can be captured in both an artwork and a corresponding sportswear design. Artist involved include: Barthelemy Toguo of Cameroon, Zineb Sedira of Algeria and Godfrey Donker of Ghana.
The exhibition will feature the artists original artwork and sketches alongside development work and the resulting final football kits. It will also explore the projects from the perspective of the artists involved, showing how their unique and individual passion to their countries influenced their designs.
