This winter, the iconic Arne Jacobsen design, will be brought back into its original form by Republic of Fritz Hansen in a series of nine new wood veneer variations, nine new lacquered colors, and finally, nine new colors applied to Ash veneer which clearly shows the grain of the wood.
The designs physical beauty is embraced by Fritz Hansen in a range of wood veneer variations including Maple, Ash, Beech, Cherry, Oregon Pine, Elm, Oak, Walnut and Dark Stained Oak. With each type of wood veneer naturally holding hundreds of shades of color, there are endless possibilities to find one that matches an existing interior.
To highlight the instinctive splendor of the Series 7 chair, nine new colors are being introduced in the collection, all inspired by the original color palette designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1968. The color selection compliments the natural color that is exhibited in the wood veneer. The palette includes: white, light grey, dark grey, black, yellow, orange, red, petrol blue and sage green.
The Series 7 was one of the first chairs ever produced from a single piece of laminated veneer; a technique which evolved from the manufacturer of airplane propellers. The Series 7 design has experienced a lifetime of success traveling the world furnishing architectural masterpieces and private homes, as well as enduring celebrity status. Despite its strenuous schedule, the 56 year old design has aged with beauty and is today one of the worlds most recognized and much loved Danish design icons.
