Small and Smart, an event at the Center for Architecture, will feature six recent Slovene projects, each presented by a five-minute film. The visual narratives will reveal the experience of these buildings.
Successfully realized architecture in Slovenia follows a rich historical tradition of well thought out and focused design concepts elegantly built. While small in scale, these projects are large in ambition.
The projects completed between 2007 and 2011 vary in types, programs and scales-a private house, a private/row house, an industrial facility, a sacred space, an educational/institutional facility and a public sports center. Taken as a whole they reflect current developments and practices by Slovenia's best younger architects.
Consul General Dr. Melita Gabric will open the evening's presentation and introduce Project Curator and Co-producer, Mr. Jeff Bickert (ARK), who will outline the project's framework. Two short lectures about these works will occur during the film presentations. Dr. Petra Ceferin (ARK) will talk on their theoretical aspects and Mr. Vaso Perovič (Bevk Perovič Arhitekti) on their technical realities.
