NYSID Names David Sprouls as Its New President

David Sprouls is named the seventh President of the New York School of Interior Design (NYSID). Mr. Sprouls has been serving as Acting President since January 1, 2012.

"David Sprouls was our top choice for the presidency," commented Dr. Patricia M. Sovern, Chairman of the NYSID Board and Chairman and the Presidential Search Committee.

"He understands the issues NYSID faces as an institution of higher education. He brings to the position his experience and knowledge of the school and its constituencies. His personal qualities of sincerity, compassion and transparency make him the perfect leader for the NYSID community."

In addition to serving as Acting President over the past six months, Sprouls is a long-time employee of NYSID. He was the Director of Admissions from 2000-2008 and Vice President for Enrollment Management from 2008-2011. Prior to the 12 years he has been at NYSID, David worked in admissions at Albright College and the Fashion Institute of Technology.

"I am truly honored and excited by the opportunity to carry forward NYSID's nearly century-old tradition of excellence in interior design education with its deep roots in the history of design and decorative arts," stated Sprouls.

"This vital profession, thoroughly embedded in the culture and economy of New York City, is expanding and evolving. NYSID and its students are uniquely poised to lead and innovate in both the residential and commercial fields, including the emerging and important areas of accessibility, sustainability, and healthcare design. I look forward to an exciting future."
