Archtober is the second annual month-long festival of architecture activities, programs and exhibitions in New York City. Archtober's curated calendar features more than 180 architecture and design lectures, conferences, programs, and exhibitions - a new section this year - happening at the Center for Architecture and collaborating institutions across the city.
The popular "Building of the Day" series is reprised for 2012. Architects and other design professionals will lead the free noontime tours, which include contemporary buildings and historic sites, a new addition for 2012.
A mid-month highlight is an open house at the new Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park on Roosevelt Island. Special programming by the Aperture Foundation and exhibits at Lori Bookstein Fine Art and the Center for Architecture will celebrate the realization of Louis Kahn's design, which has been 40 years in the making.
