1stAveMachine has added Tomi Dieguez to its expanding team. Dieguez is also the creative mind behind Buenos Aires-based animation studio Punga with partner, Patricio Verdi Brusati.
Dieguez' work with Punga shows the studio's tradition in animation and mixed-media with narratives constructed around playful, colorful and often eccentric characters.
Dieguez studied graphic design, painting and film before going on to direct, which all inform his unique approach to telling stories.
His popular spot Assland created for Diesel, which brought him to the Saatchi & Saatchi New Director's showcase, cleverly succeeds in anthropomorphizing the derrière. Other spots involve talking bellybuttons, or in the case of Red Cross spot Worms, salivating crawling creatures that attach human organs.
"I'm looking forward to exploring both short and long form work with 1stAveMachine," commented Dieguez. "It will also be an opportunity to incorporate more live-action into my work which has naturally been happening."
