H&M for Brick Lane Bikes is a men's cycling collection designed by H&M and tested by Brick Lane Bikes. The collection features all the technical details needed for better cycling, with the versatile city cyclist style that can be worn all day long. From water repellent rider jackets and articulated blazers to vintage-inspired bike jerseys and caps, the 11-piece collection combines fashion with functionality.
To make the perfect cycling garment, every detail needs to be considered. That's why the rider jacket from the Brick Lane Bikes collection is made from water repellent and breathable material, with ventilation holes under the sleeves and taped seams. It's cut longer at the back, with a back pocket and straps inside the jacket so it can be worn as a backpack.
Layering is key to a cyclist's wardrobe, and the H&M for Brick Lane Bikes collection has all the pieces needed to complete the look. Shirts come quilted for colder days and in plaid checks with reinforced patches on the lower sleeves. The crewneck top has a zip and ventilation holes, as well as sleeves cut for extra mobility, while the rider T-shirt has a functional pocket on the back. For a true vintage cycling look, there are colour stripe Henleys in either cotton or Merino wool, both cut longer at the back.
The collection is completed with rider's trousers similar to a functional chino. Legs are cut for slightly bended knees, a reinforced crotch, and reflective tape seams on the inside leg which are visible when rolled up for extra safety. There's also a pair of rider's shorts for when the weather turns warm and a striped cap. Materials used throughout the collection include organic cotton, recycled polyester and recycled wool, making the collection as sustainable as it is functional, and fashionable.
Made entirely from more sustainable materials as part of H&M's Conscious work, the collection will be available in around 180 stores and on-line from March 7, 2013.
