The Design Council, in partnership with New Designers, has today launched the Future Pioneers scheme that will champion young designers with a vision for a better future.
Future Pioneers aims to raise awareness of the positive impact design can have. The scheme will create a platform for designers with the potential to contribute to economic growth and solve social problems in inspiring and exciting new ways.
Working together with the annual New Designers exhibition which plays host to over 3,000 design graduates, the Design Council will be searching for new talent at Part 2 of the event, which will be held at the Business Design Centre in London between July 3-6, 2013.
The Design Council will select between three and six graduates from the show who will become the first Future Pioneers. The Design Council aims to celebrate and nurture the most principled, passionate and purposeful new designers exhibiting at the show.
The 2013 Future Pioneers scheme is a pilot, which the Design Council hopes to develop in future years with New Designers.
As part of its involvement with New Designers, the Design Council will be hosting the New Designers' Thursday Late event on 04 July at the Business Design Centre. The Future Pioneers finalists will be announced during the event and will be rewarded with a programme of promotion, mentoring and support which will include an exhibition at 100% Design in September 2013, the UKs largest design trade event.
