In commemoration of the terror attacks of July 22, 2011, the Norwegian Government has decided to establish two national public art memorial sites - one in Hole and one in Oslo.
As a first step in planning the memorials, artists, architects and interdisciplinary collaborative teams from around the world are invited to participate in an open call for pre-qualification entries.
The assignment has been initiated by the Ministry of Culture, who have set the main parameters for the implementation of the memorial site projects.
The open call will be followed by a closed competition in winter between eight selected candidates to be announced on September 20, 2013, with the winner being announced on February 15, 2014.
Ten million Norwegian kroner (NOK) have been earmarked for the permanent memorial site in the Government Quarter in Oslo, and two million NOK to the temporary project. Five million NOK have been earmarked for the memorial site in Hole Council.
The deadline for entries is September 1, 2013.
