Next Steps for the Intellectual Property Bill: Assessing the Future Framework for Patents and Design Rights

Next Steps for the Intellectual Property Bill seminar, to be held in London on October 24, will provide a timely opportunity to consider what more Government can do to develop an intellectual property (IP) framework that supports innovation, growth and investment in the UK economy.

Sessions will bring together key policymakers with industry representatives from a variety of innovative sectors affected by the Bill - such as pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, engineering, architecture, fashion and telecommunications - alongside legal practitioners, universities, economists and commentators.

Sessions will be structured to bring out latest thinking on Government's key proposals in this area - including the introduction of criminal penalties for copying registered designs, developing patent and design opinion services to facilitate dispute resolution, as well as measures to permit greater data sharing and reduce application backlogs.

Delegates will also have the opportunity to consider the prospects for international IP reform and cooperation, particularly as EU policymakers approach a finalized Unitary Patent Court, and as the UK makes provisions to join the Hague system of design registration.

This event is CPD certified.
