FontShop has released Webfonter, a new tool that lets web designers test out thousands of webfonts on existing websites, free of charge.
Webfonter allows designers to "try before they buy," by previewing actual typefaces in any existing site. The tool can be used as a Chrome extension, browser bookmarklet or by entering a URL directly. Users can replace headline or body (paragraph) text, specific fonts, or, using custom CSS selectors.
WebFonter can be used during the design and development process - a critical time for font choice. The target website does not need to be publicly accessible in order to test-drive webfonts.
