The International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI) along with the Design Institute of Australia (DIA) announced the official adoption of the IFI Interiors Declaration by the City of Melbourne.
The Proclamation states that "The City of Melbourne recognises the interior built environment as a significant and integral part of architecture and urban life. It is proud to adopt this declarationalongside many other cities worldwide."
The IFI Interiors' Declaration, a consensus-based vision and mission statement for the Interiors discipline was an outcome of the IFI Global Symposium held in New York City in 2011. Since then, the Declaration has been adopted by 114 cities around the world including New York, Singapore, Hong Kong, Montreal, Kuala Lumpur and Sydney.
