The GDC Foundation revealed a special hand-screened poster titled "Section 2". Craig Medwyduk and Jacqueline Germin of Odelay Design have designed a limited run, multi-coloured edition of 50 posters. Reflecting on what is uniquely Canadian, the poster addresses Section 2 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Some of the elements used in the poster include maple syrup and Canadian nickel!
In their process, which was slowly revealed over the past three weeks, the designers explored what defines and unifies Canada, and aimed to visualize that uniqueness. They mixed their own blend of custom inks, house paint, maple syrup, maple leaf powder and Canadian nickel. The impressive paper stock is French Poptone Wild Cherry 100lb Cover.
"This exclusive poster edition was generously donated by the artists to help designers in Canada," commented Peggy Cady, chair of the GDC Foundation Committee. "All proceeds from the sale will benefit the GDC Foundation as part of its 2015 fundraising efforts to help grow a fund to support design research, special projects, scholarships for students and professionals, and a benevolent fund to offer short-term financial assistance to designers experiencing a career-challenging difficulty."
Donors to the GDC Foundation and poster purchasers will be entered in a prize draw. Deadline for donations is midnight December 31.
