The 2016 Future of Money Design Award is now open for submissions. The competition, which has been running since 2009, was created to develop links between the financial industry and creative practitioners from around the world.
The Award challenges Designers and Artists to create a new origin story surrounding a monetary artefact or theory. This year the competition looks for monetary origin stories that challenge the way we think about the nature of money. Therefore all current or past monetary artefacts can be used as a starting point. For example, gold and silver, coins, paper notes, credit cards, binary code, NFC (Near Field Communication), Chip and Pin, Bitcoin, big stone blocks and everything in between.
The deadline for submissions is March 1, 2016.
