The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) has announced the winners of its 2016 GlobalShop Product Design Competition. This competition honors manufacturers and designers exhibiting at GlobalShop 2016 for product design advancements in innovation, function, and aesthetics for the retail industry.
"Purposeful, innovative, and forward-thinking product design is vital as millions of consumers engage with the retail industry every day. This year's GlobalShop Product Design Competition winners illustrate how environmentally responsible, user-friendly, and cutting-edge design is evolving the customer experience," said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA, LEED AP.
The 2016 judging panel included Giorgio Borruso (Principal, Borruso Design); Michelle Reichert (Director - Strategic Sourcing, FF&E, MGM Resorts International); and Joshua Thompson, IIDA, NCIDQ (Project Manager, Ware Malcomb).
"We were impressed with the submissions' innovative processes for solving problems in the retail environment. The manufacturers displayed creative thinking and a desire to look at solutions from a different point of view," said Borruso on behalf of the jurors.
