The Thinking Creatively Conference at Kean University will welcome architecture and design students and professionals from across the nation on April 1 for a day-long exploration of contemporary creative challenges and solutions.
The conference will feature a diverse array of presentations by top professionals in the field, networking opportunities and experiences.
Now in its 13th year, Thinking Creatively continues to be a valuable and impactful educational resource for the regional design community. All are encouraged to attend and be inspired.
Kean alumnus Matthew Senna will deliver the keynote. Senna is a designer and conceptual artist living in Los Angeles. Inspired by culture and politics, Senna's works are designed to raise awareness and spark dialogue. He explores the narrative behind everyday objects and the cultural impact they have on society.
Surgical device developer Debbie Lin Teodorescu of MIT's D-Lab and Harvard Medical School will discuss device platforms designed to make surgery safer outside of the OR. Teodorescu is spearheading collaboration between Massachusetts General Hospital's divisions of trauma, emergency surgery and surgical critical care.
studioSUMO founding partner Yolande Daniels will also speak at the event. Daniels' research reveals connections between social systems and the spaces that they occupy. Her work explores how social constructs, like race and gender, influence technology.
Representatives from the world renown firm Michael Graves Architecture & Design (MGA&D) will deliver the endnote presentation at this year's Thinking Creatively Conference, followed by a reception in the Human Rights Institute gallery where an exhibit of the work of Michael Graves will be on display.
