Odin Chair started life as a commission in 2010 by Hong Kong based Odin Properties. Jamie McLellan was asked to design a chair for a series of boutique alpine properties in Niseko, Japan. The result: a simultaneously humble and striking chair expressing a strong mix of Nordic and Japanese cultures.
Only one batch of Odin chairs was made before the die-casting tool was lost in a fire. Resident co-founders Simon James and Scott Bridgens had always admired the chair from a distance and in 2014 Resident acquired the rights to manufacture and distribute the chair worldwide.
Resident has spent the last 2 years refining the design and has invested in a new gravity-casting tool to produce the solid aluminium legs. Varieties include: Natural Ash or Black Stain, either with or without an upholstered seat.
