Teknion has unveiled its new Around Task Chair at NeoCon 2016. Designed by Justus Kolberg, Around Chair boasts a number of hidden innovations - including a flexible membrane, weight-balancing synchro-tilt mechanism, and Quick Snap Concept arms & back. Mesh or upholstery fabric wraps the back of the chair and conceals the frame.
Channeling inspiration from the open architecture of modern sports stadiums, the Around Chair features a sculpted profile and fluid form in sync with the character of contemporary work cultures. It elevates workstations and desking environments, touchdown settings, meeting and training rooms. Designers can mix fabrics and finishes to suit the setting - taking the chair from bold and contemporary to subdued and classic.
"My main inspiration for the structure of Teknion's new Around chair is the architecture of modern stadiums," said Kolberg.
"Today's stadiums are often open structures covered by a thin, organic-looking skin that creates an open volume or space as opposed to more traditional building with walls and a closed roof. Around translates this concept into a fluid form wrapped in mesh or fabric, from front to back, and without an exposed frame to create a hard edge.
"The result is a sculpted profile with a light, dynamic look and a tactile experience that's in sync with the character of contemporary work cultures."
