FLOS was awarded the prestigious Compasso d'Oro prize for its OK lamp by Konstantin Grcic, as "an object that presents the evolution of an icon while maintaining its traditional elegance." The award completes the evolution of Achille Castiglioni and Pio Manzù's Parentesi, the 1971 FLOS design which inspired Gricic's OK and also won of the same prize in 1979.
For OK, Grcic redesigns the original light bulb as an ultra-flat LED with edge-lighting technology that can rotate 360 degrees and slides vertically over a steel cable that runs from floor to ceiling.
