JaK Studio Unveils New Private Aviation Hub for Gama Aviation

JaK Studio has today unveiled its designs for a new private aviation hub for Gama Aviation at Sharjah International Airport. The distinctive concept, which is modelled on a series of aerofoils, and incorporates Gama Aviation's brand identity into its blueprint, includes a 100m hangar, built to accommodate Airbus ACJ and Boeing's BBJ private aircraft. The world-class facility will also incorporate Gama Aviation's regional HQ, along with crew facilities, private-hire office spaces, retail showrooms and a contemporary VIP lounge with views out onto the airport apron.

"The highly-engineered, purpose-built environment will combine corporate and recreational spaces to offer Gama Aviation's clients a seamless, holistic experience," commented Nedzad Sahovic, creative director at JaK Studio. "We hope the concept sets new standards for the private aviation sector, and becomes a recognisable emblem for Gama Aviation."

The aerodynamic gesture of the hangar is matched with an exposed steel structure and perforated aluminium cladding, giving a high-tech, modern aesthetic, whilst ensuring a sustainable insulated environment. The aerofoil shape brings optimal engineering strength, creating a 100m-span of voluminous, column-free space for the manoeuvring and light maintenance of aircraft.

The front entrance to the facility is based on a deconstruction of Gama Aviation's brand. The 25-degree angle of the red slant that defines the logo is articulated in the building's exoskeleton, and throughout the interior treatment of the business and recreational spaces, giving a unified and immersive brand experience. "Soaring panes of reflective glass control solar glare and give a slick and dynamic building surface that reflects the changing desert sky, whilst the internally illuminated cladding is designed to light up at night to accentuate the facility's distinctive silhouette," Sahovic explained.

"JaK Studio have interpreted our brand and made it integral to the architectural concept," stated Duncan Daines, group chief marketing officer at Gama Aviation. "The challenge was to create a concept that could be replicated across a wide variety of locations from flagship sites such as Sharjah to smaller, more functional sites. Add to this the requirements of a controlled environment, the cost and operational parameters in the brief and they have created a signature design that identifies us from the usual array of vanilla builds found at business aviation facilities worldwide."
