Figma, a design tool with real-time collaboration, has launched Components, a feature that allows designers to reuse existing parts of a design quickly throughout a file, solving a common, tedious problem frequently faced by UI and graphic designers.
Components aims to vastly streamline design workflows, improve design consistency and improve communication between designers and engineers.
With the introduction of Components, if a designer is creating a set of buttons, she/he can now create one master button (the component) whereby changes to that master are reflected across all the other instances of that button. Additionally, the designer can make one-off tweaks to the instances that are distinct from the component.
