BKLYN DESIGNS 2017 Installation Competition

BKLYN DESIGNS 2017 Installation Competition

Founded in 2003 by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, BKLYN DESIGNS was one of the first design fairs to shine a spotlight on the creative economy in Brooklyn, and helped put many Brooklyn makers and supporters on the map.

Attendees include designers, architects, builders, developers, store buyers, industry influencers, educators, urban planners and design-savvy consumers, who all come together to celebrate the borough's rich design heritage, iconic style and bustling creative community. With thousands of visitors over the three-day weekend, BKLYN DESIGNS is one of the most vibrant shows in New York City.

For the first time, BKLYN DESIGNS is commissioning an original site-specific installation driven by the concept of connectivity. Think of the ties that bond us - creatively, socially, technologically, geographically - and the aspects that make Brooklyn a unique hub of connection.

This call is open to those with demonstrated experience in the conceptualization, design and production of installations including artists, designers, architects, and engineers, among others. Proposals should take into consideration the specific location and space of the Brooklyn Expo Center, and should demonstrate the understanding of the various show components (exhibitors, curated marketplace, panel discussions and workshops).

The deadline for submissions is March 10, 2017.
