New York City's Upper East Side recently welcomed its first co-working space to the area. The Commons, conveniently situated on East 86th Street - just steps away from the 4-5-6 and 2nd Avenue Subway lines - sports a contemporary interior, designed by local firm JIDK.
For The Commons, JIDK was tasked with creating a cheerful and serene workspace that catered to the needs of independent contractors of all ages and professions, integrating features fitting for Baby Boomers and Millennials alike.
Interior architectural elements, such as a 20-foot vaulted ceiling, large skylights, and exposed brick walls contribute to an airy design, while biophilic elements, such as an abundance of natural light, plants, and wood, promote well-being. Meanwhile, zones are scattered throughout, with countless spaces for collaboration and privacy. Users are empowered by the flexibility to work from their workstation or a small team space, lounge, or phone room.
