The Beak Chair by Ole Wanscher

Carl Hansen & Son has added the Beak Chair, designed by Ole Wanscher, to its Wanscher collection. Ole Wanscher (1903-1985) was a Danish Architect and Professor and is regarded as one of Denmark's design icons. Wanscher designed furniture pieces that celebrated Scandinavian furniture tradition and are now considered modern classics.

Ole Wanscher's furniture designs radiate exclusivity and a high level of craftsmanship whilst standing out as refined, sculptural objects. The original Beak Chair was conceived in 1951 and it serves as an elegant example of his sculptural influence - thanks in part to the unique, beak-like armrests, which inspired the 'Beak Chair' nickname. With its expressive silhouette and pronounced armrests, the lounge chair reflects Wanscher's commitment to challenging perceived limits.
