Aftershock Wins IIDA Calibre Award for Large Workplace

Designed by OKB Architecture with Unisource Solutions, Corporate Contractors, Image Options, and Lam & Kaainoni Engineering, the office of the world-class mobile gaming studio Aftershock won a 2018 IIDA Calibre Award for Large Workspace. The annual awards recognize the excellent work of the International Interior Design Association Southern California Chapter project teams, celebrating the collaborative nature of outstanding design.

Conceived as a series of solids and voids connected by a playful installation of black rope throughout, the design seamlessly links the multiple studios, creating one cohesive space. Working within a minimalist color scheme dominated by a black and white palette, Unisource Solutions enhanced OKB's narrative with furnishings that combine sleek, geometrical shapes with modern materials and modular elements. They provided furniture, both custom-design solutions and ready-made modern silhouettes, that maximized the budget and optimized the floor plan while adhering to a tight schedule.

Sited in Playa Vista, in Los Angeles' Silicon Beach, the office design reflects the studio's dynamic personality and creative style. The 38,730 square foot workspace, includes a lobby, 2 board rooms, 8 conference rooms, 8 collaborative spaces, a meeting hall, 18 huddle rooms, a pantry and surrounding areas, and 204 workstations.
