Frontend.com was honored as a winner by Fast Company in its annual Innovation by Design Awards for 2018 in the User Experience category. Innovation by Design is the only competition to honor creative work at the intersection of design, business, and innovation.
"We are immensely proud to receive this award recognizing the vision and quality of our design work," commented Frank Long, Director of Frontend.com, "to put it in context, this year there were 2,800 competing projects from around the world - so it's a fantastic achievement for us, and for Irish Design generally."
The award was for 'Moot - Redefining Democracy' a conceptual vision of how technology could be used to create more effective communication between citizens and elected representatives - rebuilding trust and creating more effective government. The solution explores multi-modal communication channels, combined with natural language processing and AI to interpret, refine, and manage millions of individual citizen initiated queries - making it easier for government to respond, inform and react.
Moot was the culmination of a global research and design initiative incorporating input from academia, industry as well as political and civic thought leaders. Contributors included EU Policy Lab, American Centre of Civic Design, Public Policy Lab (US), Storyful, Publivate among others. In 2017 Frontend published 'Rules of Engagement' a white paper outlining the design principles for effective communication between citizens and government.
