Midtown Athletic - A 21st Century Spin on Wellness Facilities

Midtown Athletic: A 21st Century Spin on Wellness Facilities

Midtown Athletic Club is not your typical health club. Following an $85-million renovation, this Chicago-based complex spans three levels and features a full-size basketball court, George Foreman III-designed boxing ring, yoga and spin studios, an indoor lap pool, steam rooms and a 20,000-square-foot fitness floor with bright-green artificial turf in the center.

Midtown recognizes the need to bring health and wellness facilities into the 21st Century, and DMAC Architecture upped the ante with a destination for modern living where health and wellness are intentional in every detail. Signifying a shift toward health and wellness, the 55-room Hotel at Midtown serves as the backdrop for Midtown Athletic Club.

DMAC Architecture oversaw the design of both the guest rooms and the 250,000-square-foot, six-story structure, while V Starr Interiors conceived the tennis lounge, which consists of 14 tennis courts. DMAC gave a look and feel that celebrates the health of its guests and brings in the urban environment of the surrounding neighborhood. The design team incorporated colors, materials and textures inspired by natural elements such as wood to create a warm, inviting ambiance that extends to the hotel as well.
