Amsterdam Light Festival invites creatives from around the world - from artists to designers, engineers to architects, and professionals to students - to submit a concept for a light artwork. The festival's eighth edition will take place from November 28, 2019 until January 19, 2020 in the city centre of Amsterdam.
An international jury, together with the festival's curatorial team, will review the concepts and select approximately 30 artists to create an artwork.
Amsterdam Light Festival is an annual winter festival in the Netherlands that presents high-quality light art in Amsterdam's vibrant city centre. Amsterdam's world-renowned canals, historic sites and various waterfronts offer visitors a unique way to experience light artworks.
For Edition #8 Amsterdam Light Festival is looking for artistic and inventive interpretations of the theme 'Disrupt!' To disrupt means to disturb, disorder or interrupt. A disruption is usually seen as inconvenient but can also be positive and sometimes essential to trigger the need for change to take place.
The festival calls on artists, designers and architects to interrogate, test and awaken the city of Amsterdam with intriguing light artworks.
The deadline for submissions is January 21, 2019.
