The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) and the American Institute of Architects New York (AIANY) have announced the finalists of the Big Ideas for Small Lots NYC Housing Design Competition.
HPD and AIANY launched the competition in February 2019, seeking innovative ideas from top architects and designers from around the world to transform small, difficult-to-develop City-owned lots into affordable housing. The winning proposals were selected by a panel of nine jurors -- all leaders in the fields of architecture, urban design, real estate development, and public policy -- and evaluated on their design, replicability, and construction feasibility.
The Finalists are Mass Green Living by Anawan/101 + Kane AUD; Greenfill Housing as Garden by Michael Sorkin Studio; Fold and Stack by OBJ; System for Narrow Living by Only If; and More with Less by Palette Architecture.
