AJ100 has named Foster + Partners the International Practice of the Year. Picked from a shortlist of five, the Architects' Journal commended the practice for having "a stand-out year internationally, working in that sweet spot where design excellence meets business achievement."
With projects under construction in 62 cities all over the world and the opening of five international offices in 2018, this award reinforces the practice's commitment to remaining a global practice. "Foster + Partners has, with exceptional consistency, defined the highest standards of professional practice in a world of rapid and complex change," one of the judges noted. "Operating as a synthetic and diverse design and research ecology, its work spans the honing of fine detail to the evolution of policies and tools."
"Fosters has significantly strengthened its worldwide practice in several ways: introducing a process of integrated thinking to share design expertise across its offices; applying a proprietary carbon-footprint calculator to all projects on a global basis; sharing its research on global warming across continents; and opening Apple Park in California, setting a benchmark for corporate world headquarters and design thinking," added another judge.
The practice also topped the survey of 100 largest architectural practice's in the UK for the eighth year in the row, while also being nominated as the 'most admired' by its industry peers.
