Perrotin is relocating its Hong Kong gallery from its former premises on Connaught Street Central, to K11 ATELIER Victoria Dockside on the Tsim Sha Tsui harbourfront. The Hong Kong gallery is one of Perrotin's nine locations across six cities including New York, Seoul, Shanghai and Tokyo.
Andre Fu has created the interiors for the new gallery, which is located on the eighth floor of a prominent waterfront edifice housing K11 ATELIER and Rosewood Hotel. Perrotin is the first gallery to take up residence in Victoria Dockside, a landmark development integrating art, culture, offices, retail, and hospitality. The complex, which has been likened to New York's Hudson Yards, was designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and James Corner Field Operations, and is situated within walking distance of the Hong Kong Museum of Art and the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.
Andre Fu also designed the interiors of the original Perrotin Hong Kong (as well as the Perrotin Tokyo and Perrotin Shanghai) and has incorporated hallmark elements of the former premises such as raw oak flooring and oxidized bronze in the 2,500-square-foot gallery, which comprises two exhibition rooms, a private salon, and an office. The apportioning of space has changed in favor of a larger salon and smaller exhibition rooms, enabling project spaces with greater flexibility. The salon, which occupies a third of the total exhibition area, incorporates a unique art display system adapted from the model first designed by Perrotin's founder for the flagship showroom in Paris.
