Volvo Cars Canada and the Interior Design Show Toronto have announced the results of the New Garage Design Challenge. The winning design, 'Parking-Parc' by Tiam Maeiyat upcycles the garage space into a new form of the family room.
Linking inside and outside together with light and transparency, the Parking-Parc design creates possibilities for quality family time, regardless of time or season. Inspiration & integration of the fully electric Volvo XC40 Recharge was interpreted through freedom and flexibility.
"Tiam's submission beautifully exemplifies the function, modern Scandinavian aesthetics and sustainable elements seen within the Volvo XC40 Recharge - by creating a space that seamlessly connects the indoors with the outdoors," commented Robin Page, Head of Design, Volvo Cars. "Thinking about a garage that blends into the landscape is not only the future, but also an ecological gesture that allows us to use less heating in the secondary spaces while giving them a second function," added jury member Kim Pariseau, Founder, APPARIEL architecture.
