Fontwerk has released West, a brand-new sans serif typeface designed by Daniel Perraudin. The Berlin-based font foundry is positioning the family as a compelling mix of conciseness and pragmatism.
Although the construction of West follows in the geometric tradition, with its forms rooted in squares, circles and triangles, it achieves independence and its own distinct character. It has a simple yet sophisticated formula: visually similar forms that do not repeat.
West succeeds in reinterpreting the concept of geometric sans serifs in a contemporary way. The range is also something rather special in the genre: nine font weights ranging from Hairline to Black, matching italics as well as variable fonts, giving the user full flexibility - is perfect for branding and editorial projects.
